Guidelines simplified [October 8, 2004 14:57]
The magazine guidelines for writers has been simplified. Basically, all is needed for a writer to submit an article is to start writing the article text from the first line and make use of the related class for the stylesheet where applicable. The concept of author's picture alignment, article title and bio is all gone as this is now generated automatically from the author's Universal Thread account.

Enhancement to the magazine [October 7, 2004 22:49]
We have worked within the last two weeks to enhance the readability of the magazine. From now on, and for all issues since October 2003, all articles are readable within one HTML page. Thus, the concept of pagination has been replaced with a navigation between articles. So, all article can be viewed into a full format, which is one page. This is now the only and default mode for reading an article online. The download mode is still supported and can be accessed from the All Issues page.

Removal of dedicated window for reading magazine [September 29, 2004 14:01]
We have removed the ability to open a new window to read the magazine. Because of the needed support for users using window blockers and high end security setting which interfere with that ability, we have decided to focus on one interface to read the magazine online. Thus, as it was the default mode since a while, the reading of an issue is within the actual browser window.

Removal of the login [September 28, 2004 14:10]
We have removed the login from the top page of the Universal Thread Magazine site. Basically, that login was not that much necessary as a login will appear as soon as a request is done to read an article which requires a subscription.

Articles archive restructured [September 28, 2004 14:09]
We have adjusted the menu to only have one item in regards to the archive of articles. Thus, when going into it, the ability to filter the list on technical articles only if applicable, such as the columns and the free article. A link is also available to view the distribution of the articles by topics and levels such as previously available.

More options when viewing an issue [September 10, 2004 17:14]
When viewing an issue of the Universal Thread Magazine, on the upper right corner of each page, you now have an Options listbox which allows you to download the offline copy, to switch into a full page format or for various options. The same applies when viewing in full page format where the Options listbox is adjusted to switch back to the magazine format.

Login not done on double domain [July 14, 2004 19:51]
Due to too many users running ad-blocker, we have removed the ability to log in to double domains at the same time. Users who logged in from universalthread.com also had an auto login to utmag.com. This was also good vice versa. This is no longer supported. This will by the same speed up the login process on both sites. Users who wish to speed up the login on utmag.com can also check "Sign me in automatically" on that site.

We have updated the subscription page to provide more information on the various ways you could subscribe. This is basically in regards to the methods of payment such as the regular credit card approach, by Western Union, by cheque and for users of Brazil and Argentina who can now benefit of our partners in there to purchase a subscription to our magazine.
